GONE IS GONE Feat. MASTODON, AT THE DRIVE-IN, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE Members: Video For New Song 'Sometimes I Feel'
September 4, 2020GONE IS GONE, the project featuring MASTODON's Troy Sanders, AT THE DRIVE-IN's Tony Hajjar, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE's Troy Van Leeuwen and guitarist-keyboardist Mike Zarin, has surprised fans with a new single, "Sometimes I Feel", following the release of "Everything Is Wonderfall" earlier this summer. The new single is available on all digital platforms on Clouds Hill Music and is accompanied by a new video created with Freangel Pacheco, who collaborated with GONE IS GONE on the last three videos for the new album.
"Sometimes I Feel" features haunting vocals Sanders, with electronic beats and synth samples from Zarin accompanying Hajjar's drumming and guitar riffs from Van Leeuwen, all created during quarantine with limited resources during lockdown. With this new single, GONE IS GONE delivers a track that digs deep into everyone's psyche during this time with dreamlike visuals in the new video.
GONE IS GONE states about the new single: "'Sometimes I Feel' started as a collaboration under quarantine, using the limited tools we had. What started with phone tag, turned into the creation of sounds using samples of voicemail bits, which turned into a visceral collaboration for all of us to subconsciously express our psyche under lockdown. It's an odd turn for us as a band that reflects an odd turn for us as a society."
The new single is a powerful statement from the mind. Van Leeuwen says: "You're in a blissful dream filled with love and light. You search for the words to express this feeling, but everything comes out jumbled and upside down. But that doesn't matter. The feeling you're experiencing is real enough to believe. You hear a voice repeating the word 'Happiness'. This voice is joined by a chorus of angels and every time they repeat it, the sound becomes more intense into deafening screams. As you slowly awake, you realize these screams are your own. The veil of this dream unravels and dissipates to reveal the awful world that is the 'Now' as it's crumbling around your bed."
GONE IS GONE's debut album, "Echolocation", entered Billboard's Heatseekers Chart at No. 3 back in January 2017.
Hailed by Clash as "a crisp, compact document, one laced with energy and sweeping songwriting," "Echolocation" was produced by the band and mixed by Ken Andrews (BECK, A PERFECT CIRCLE).
GONE IS GONE was formed by multi-instrumentalist Mike Zarin and Hajjar, who previously collaborated on various film trailer projects for Sencit, Zarin's music production, licensing and supervision company. Together they've put together a wildly diverse sound production resume that includes trailers for the Internet-breaking television series "Stranger Things", Christopher Nolan's 2010 sci-fi thriller "Inception", multi-Emmy-winning television series "Game Of Thrones" and the Marvel Comics blockbuster film "X-Men Apocalypse", to name but a few. They brought in Troy Van Leeuwen, known for his work with QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, FAILURE, A PERFECT CIRCLE, EAGLES OF DEATH METAL and SWEETHEAD, who, in turn, brought in Troy Sanders from multi-Grammy nominees MASTODON.
